Localizada numa zona de habitação dispersa, com um posicionamento privilegiado sobre os campos agrícolas a poente, a casa Montenegro é a resposta a uma encomenda em que os clientes, pela utilização que já faziam do terreno enquanto lugar de refúgio, nos transmitiram sensações e apropriações pré-edificado. Esta partilha de vivências acabou por nos dar linhas orientadoras sobre a implantação da casa e respectiva distribuição do programa, bem como um aproveitamento da morfologia do terreno, principalmente o talude existente que circunscreve aquela que seria a zona social exterior com piscina.
O programa desenvolve-se assim no eixo que define a melhor frente de contemplação do terreno, de forma sequencial e num só piso. As relações interior – exterior são de nível na zona social, de carácter imediato nessa transição, e mais visuais na zona privada, quase rasantes ao pavimento exterior.
Os clientes, apreciadores de arquitectura do norte de Àfrica, trazem-nos ao projecto a necessidade de estudar a importância do “infinito” na cultura árabe, e como a luz solar/sombra e a água se podem relacionar com o momento de chegada à casa – Uma barreira volumétrica que se fraciona com a extrusão de arabescos e nos leva a descobrir a paisagem reflectida na piscina.
O penedo mantido no extremo norte da casa, gerador de momentos de introspeção do casal antes da construção, é associado ao “quarto master” e aparece numa zona exterior protegida pela edificação. Este elemento pétreo serve ainda de charneira à rotação do embasamento da casa, que define a configuração da piscina e zona social exterior, potenciando a sensação perspética de infinito que nos propusemos a explorar.
A matéria pretende ser o elemento aglutinador de toda a intervenção, com a utilização da cal no exterior e interior da casa.
Located in a dispersed housing area, with a privileged position over the agricultural fields to the west, the Montenegro house is the order´s answer in which the clients using their land as a place of refuge, transmitted us sensations and appropriations pre-built. This sharing of experiences gave us guidelines about the implantation of the house and the respective distribution of the programme, as well as an exploitation of the morphology of the terrain, especially the existing slope that circumscribes what would be the outdoor social area with swimming pool.
The programme is therefore developed along the axis that defines the best front view of the terrain, in a sequential manner and on a single floor. The inside-outside relationship is on the same level to the social area, with an immediate transition, and more visual in the private area, almost flush with the outside pavement.
The clients, appreciators of North African architecture, bring to the project the necessity to study the importance of "infinity" in the Arab culture, and how sunlight/shade and water can relate to the moment of arrival at the house - a volumetric barrier that fractures with the extrusion of arabesques and leads us to discover the landscape reflected in the pool.
The boulder kept at the northern end of the house, generator of moments of introspection of the couple before the construction, is associated with the "master bedroom" and appears in an external area protected by the building. This stone element also serves as a hinge to the rotation of the house's foundation, which defines the configuration of the pool and outdoor social area, enhancing the perceptive sensation of infinity that we set out to explore.
The material intends to be the unifying element of the whole intervention, with the use of lime on the exterior and interior of the house.
